Reflection: In The Beginning…
“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols” – Isaiah 42:8
This weeks reading portion gives us a window into the dialogue between God and creation. We are at the beginning. We are starting over the reading cycle for another year. We see in this weeks portion that everything was created in 6 days and then God rested on the seventh for our benefit.
Many people today claim that they are atheists and do not believe in God. I would contend that absolute truth is required for an atheist to exist. Since God is absolute truth God’s existence teaches us, that those who claim to be atheists can not truly be atheists when God is absolute truth .
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” – Genesis 1:26
When God said, “Let us make human beings in our image to be like us.” We find that we are created in the very image of God. God created us from the beginning to be like him and that we would be given authority.
31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! Genesis 1:31 That means when God looks at you he sees you as VERY GOOD.
“But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord.“You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be – Isaiah 43:10
God, the Lord, created the heavens and stretched them out. He created the earth and everything in it. He gives breath to everyone, life to everyone who walks the earth. – Isaiah 42:5
These verses you have just read are AMAZING promises from God about who He is and how much he Loves us. This week as we meditate on the attributes of God may we be assured that He is MORE than ABLE to take care of you and has a plan for your life.
16 From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.17 For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. – 1 John 1:16-18
